Divvy GAB

Got a Divvy of 890 from GAB.

Love it, although the stock price has been trending down again. Planning to pick up more soon.

Divvy Hap Seng

A surprise divvy from Hap Seng of 0.15 a share.

Looking great as ever. Price has increased more than 3 fold, too bad I did not buy more.

Sold BJCORP - Biggest Lost Ever

This was the first stock I bought some four years ago - based purely on someone's recommendation, before i learned anything about a company's fundamentals. Major lesson there. It turned out well in the beginning, raising a little but then for the next four years continued to slide. Seeing the red on my portfolio every single day for the past four years because of it was a source of pain.

This is one stock I don't understand.

Something was clearly strange about this counter. It has an endless conversion of ICULS or whatever that keeps pressing the price down. Its earnings had been poor, although many optimistic people keeps pointing out at its superior NTA.

Before the release of previous quarter's report the price jumped, only for it to be dissapointed by abysmal numbers - actually registering a loss. Again, the last one week the price jumped some 20% in anticipation of an oncoming quarters report. Again the result was dissapointing, registering only a net profit of RM8 mil. The price movement really looks manipulated!

Strangely though the number of buyers were more than sellers after the release of the result. I wonder what else is brewing? But enough is enough for me. Imagine if I had put the money in other good counters for the last four years, how much more it must have been by now.

I sold at 0.58, a loss by almost half! Not too sure the exact date I bought it or the commission charged so i will do some guessing.

Bought 04/2010 0.95 x 5000 + 44.63 = 4794.63
Bought 04/2010 0.94 x 5000 + 44.45 = 4744.45

Sold 0.58 x 10000 - 32.1 = 5767.5

Div recieved
2010 - 200
2011 - 100
2012 - 100
2013 - 100

Total Loss: 5767.5 - 9539.08 + 500
                 = 3271.58 = 34.3%

I hereby join the long list of fools who have lost money in VT's counter.

Divvy TENWOW

Not sure yet where or how to quickly check the financial results of HK Stocks.

Anyway was surprised to recieved a  divvy totalling HKD 29.51 from my 3 lots of TENWOW.

When I received the statement however I was pretty shocked to see that the Divvy was supposed to be HKD 68.40, so the broker took a huge chunk of the amount.

Collecting GAB

I am not sure why the price keeps dropping, but perhaps this is a good opportunity to collect.

A recent graph by the Edge showed how wonderful its revenue and profit had been increasing, save for a slight dips in two of the 12 years featured.

Apart from the P/E which is around 20 at the moment, this counter still ticks all the right boxes, and with some superior numbers:

ROE 54.88%
ROI 39.43%
NP margin 12.31%
Debt/Equity 42%

I qeued at 12.90 and got 600 units early in the morning. Total holding now is 2 lots with an average price of 13.31. Commission was 42.83.

Added GAB

The price of GAB has been trending down since I last bought it. The past few weeks I had been queuing almost everyday and finally picked up 600 units at 13.2. This brings my average buying price to 13.5.

The recent financial result showed an improvement in profits, up 40% from the preceding quarter although on flat revenue. Net profit for the year (ending 30 June) however dropped 9%. Looks like things are improving, although we are not put of the woods yet.

I'm planning to pick up more should there be more weaknesses in price, particularly after ex-date (yet to be announced), Would want to keep this long term for a divvy play.

Commission charged was 43.64

Bought OCBC

One of the shares that act as a proxy to the Singaporean economy.  One of the fail-safe stocks, they say.
Since i have been thinking of keeping some money in Sing dollars as part of my investment I bought 1 lot today at 9.78.

Things are a little confusing after the acquisition of Wing Hang and the issuance of rights issue to finance that. Nevertheless at the moment the stock is trading at PE of 11x, PB of 1.3 and Divvy of 3.4%. NP margin at 40%, and ROE at 12.2%. Its debt level however seems to be higher than equity, but i am a little confused about this.

A little on the high side but i plan to keep this for a very long time (up to retirement). I plan to pickup more and more should the price drops, subject to funding availability.

For some reason I like this bank and feel rather proud of owning their shares. It is one of the best bank in the world. Hope it will prove to be a good move.

Wanted to queue lower but feared missing out on it. The stock actually closed at 9.75.

Commission charged was SGD 30.81.

Sold UOADEV

Upon the release of its poor Q report, i decided to sell off UOADEV.

I had been intending to keep this counter long-term and why not? This is a seemingly well-managed company that registers continuously good profit margins, has no debt and about 670m in cash, and pays good divvy.. However I believe the price will be stagnant in the near term and no divvy will be forthcoming for at least one year.

Bought:

24/6/2013 2.25 x 1000 + 21.45 = 2271.45
25/6/2013 2.15 x 1000 + 21.03 = 2171.03
29/8/2013 2.17 x 2100 + 30.26 = 4377.26
28/11/2013 1.95 x 1800 + 26.74 = 3536.74

Total Bought = 12356.48

Divvy Received:

2.07 x 100 = 207 + 33 cash
1.80 x 400 = 720 + 20 cash

Total Divvy = 980

27/08/14 Sold 2.10 x 6400 - 74.48 = 13365.52

Total Gain: 13365.52 -12356.48 +980 = 1989.04

A 16% gain in one year two months. Not bad, but should have done better. Still I'm happy with it.

I will definitely pick the shares up again once it drops below 1.90

Sold GENM

Tired of the RM30+ divvy from my 1 lot of GENM, I finally decided to sell.

6/3/13 Bought 3.58 x 1000 + 22.26 = 3602.26
31/7/14 Sold 4.40 x 1000 - 24.80  = 4375.20

Total div received (3 times) = 118.75
Total gain = 891.69 = 24.8%

24.8% in just slightly over a year, very good actually. Just tired of the very low divvy. I went up pretty well in the first six months after buying, but after that the price just remained stagnant.

I'm thinking also of reducing my holdings in Bursa, as the market seems overpriced. Might be sitting on cash for a while, waiting for the next crash.

Sold Sunreit

Sunreit is probably a good long-term investment. Since I only own a lot, I thought I might just as well sell it.

6/8/13 Bought 1.32 x 1000 + 17.54 = 1337.54
6/6/14 Sold 1.45 x 1000 - 14.4 = 1435.6

Total div received (4 times) = 77.72

Total gain = 175.78 = 13.1%

Pretty good investment actually, a 13% return in 10 months.

Bought Tenwow Int

The share price seemed to have been battered. It had dropped below IPO of HKD 3.15, and was close to its 52W Low of HKD 2.91.

I queued at 2.88 and got 3000 shares.

Financially it looks OK, but not great. This being a new F&B company in China though, I think it might have a bright future. Not very sure of what it sells but the website shows some decent looking products of milk tea, wines and snacks. Its all in Chinese so I cant read in detail.

P/E 13.6
P/B 2.0
NPmargin 6.3%
Quick ratio 1.3
Debt/Equity 0.56

Not sure how much the commision is but total transaction is RM3743.14

Taking the exchange rate of 0.43, total transcation is HKD 8705.

Meaning the commission is HKD65 = RM28

Bought GAB

Queued for 1 lot of GAB at 13.70 when it finally closed below 14 at 13.98.

Managed to get 800.

Commision 60.32

Sold Tien Wah

Sold TienWah today after holding it for 5 months plus.

Bought 2.40 x 2000 + 32.16 = 4832.16
Sold 2.60 x 2000 - 29.4 = 5170.6

Div recieved 31/10/13 = 127.8

Total gain = 466.24 = 9.6%

Reason for selling:

1. Poor q report. Profit plunged by 60% (lower revenue and 2.8mil provison for redudancy)
2. Saw one of the directors selling (although small amount 20k shares)

Kinda sad as i had intended to keep this stock long term. Might want to buy back once earnings recover
