Rounding up Hap Seng

For years my goal was to own at least 5 lots of Hap Seng but the price did not come down. In the last year or so however, the price has been dropping like flies, it is seriously worrying me. What more that I had picked up 2 lots at 7.50 last year, which is almost double the price now. Decided to pick up one lot at 4.38 to round it up to 5 lots. Commission was 27.24

OCBC Missed Opportunity

Immediately after being forced to sell my OCBC because of the TAC debacle, Silicon Valley Bank failed. This triggered a contagion for bank worlwide. Credit Suisse was the next to fall. Another two US banks, Silvergate and Signature Bank also collapsed within five days. Panic ensued in the banking world, and stocks were down. I saw OCBC also falling, and with a smile said 'there must be a reason i couldnt buy them earlier'. There is a God after all! The problem was the TAC issue still couldnt be solved, and i coud only saw the stock tumbling down all the way to 12.07 while my pile of money sat uncomfortably unotuched. I sent a snail mail to the bank to change my phone number but didnt receive a reply, only to find out much later that a reply was already in my mailbox that i didnt check. In the end i managed to attend the conference in Singapore, after almost having to beg an unresponsive superior. Was made to wait for hours at the beautiful Chulia St bank but was happy to finally put an end to the issue. By the time I got back, the price has stabilised and I was worried it could run away now that the ex-date is nearing. Queued for 12.70 but failed, and the next day queed at 12.75 only to see the price dropped all the way to 12.68. Ouch. Anyway I got the 2 lots, and it felt like my constipation has finally eased. Commission was 80.68. As it stands my holdings are at an avg price of 10.58. X1000 = X800 = X2000 = X2000 = 13/4/23 X2000 = 25,580.68

OCBC Debacle

Over the last few years I have been building up reserves and now the cash pile of 30k was making me nervous.

My sight has been set on increasing OCBC now but after a dip during the start of the Ukraine war the price has been climbing.

With the full year result out  next week though, I could no longer wait. What more with DBS announcing record profits, and a bonus dividend!

I queued for 12.90 for a few days but no luck. Then I started queing at 12.88 and on the second day the price dropped to 12.76.

Although surprised at the drop I was happy to pick up another 2 lots and now that my OCBC has surpassed 100k it felt like a milestone has been reached. Commission was 81.49.

I wanted to settle the payment immediately for months now the cash pile was making me nervous but unfortunately a problem occurs. Due to many years on inactivity my online banking now has an issue with OTP. After multiple emails, an unanswered hotline call and finally two calls both from the bank and the broker I was told there was no way around it unless i visit a bank, or send a snail mail.

In the end i had to fire sale it at 13.00 Commission was 82.25, so that brought in a meaningless contra gain of 76.26.

So dissappointed to see my portfolio back at 5800 shares. Not sure when i could pick it up again at a good price. A good year-end result next week and a bonus dividend or shares would definitely drive me crazy. 😭

Back After so Long

It's  been so long that I have completely forgotten about this blog. I only realised it while trying to play Golfstar and needed to sign in with this account. And im only re-starting Golfstar as FIFA mobile no longer works on my tablet.

In any case in the last few years not a lot has changed on on the portfolio.

At the moment, what remains are:

1. 4000 shares Hap Seng, with 2 lots bought last year at a high price of 7.40 each.

2. 10,000 shares of CTOS bought last year at a good price of 1.20, which was way below IPO price of 1.50. Had a bit of a panic when it continued dropping to 1.12 i think but hasn't gone down below buying price since so couldn't pick me more.

3. Tenwow has been delisted, or suspended i think so not sure what happened to it. Lost everything there I guess.

4. OCBC is now 5800 shares, and ready to pick up more. Bought two lots last year at 11.50 and now the price has rocketed.

5. GenS remains at 5000 shares, couldnt sell them for years as the price was depressed but since this year has moved above buying price.

6. Keppel Reit picked up5000 recently at 1.08. The price then dropped all the way to 78 cents. Probably wrong buy as the outlook is poor but might picked up another 5000 shares to round it up

ISEC - Record Loss

After holding on to ISEC for some years and never seeing the price go up, I have decided to cut my losses.

There does not appear to be any interesting plan for them in the near future. All these talks about expanding to frontier markets have so far been just that - talk. Seems like more clinics are also closing in Singapore.

The jittery of the emerging markets currency depreciation is starting to worry me. Could we see a repeat of the 1998 Financial Crisis? Besides I need to prepare some cash to buy other stocks if the market indeed tanks.

This is the second stock I ever sold at a loss - also a penny stock. Of course, another penny stock I own -Tenwow - have almost lost all its value so that is also considered a loss.

Bought (14/4/15) = 4200
Fees = 26.7
Sold (6/9/18)  = 3050
Fees = 26.23

Loss = 1202.93 - 28.4%

This is the largest lost ever for me

Sold GenS

I have completely ran out of money at home, and as a result finally had to sell my overseas holdings.

Fortunately for me though, GenS has been trending up in the last few month and I was able to sell at a gain.

17/11/17 Sold 5000 GenS at 1.35
Fees 27.70

25/02/15 Bought GenS at 0.99
Fees 26.98

Gain 1745.32
Plus
Div 25/08/17 0.015
Div 08/05/17 0.015
Div 25/11/16 0.015
Div 05/05/16 0.015
Div 04/05/12 0.01
Total Div 350

Total gain 2095.32 = 42.33% in 33 months

Fantastic gains. Too bad i might have to sell more going forward.
